Thank You for making The Big Giveback a Huge Success!

Thank you to everyone who made The Big Giveback for The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry Food Bank such a HUGE success. We received 84 backpacks, tons of water bottles & lunch bags, and a mountain of food….more than 350 pounds!

A special thanks goes to:

-Famous Peppers Charlottetown for providing an amazing lunch

Mark your calendars! The Big Giveback is coming up on Thursday, August 17th to Sunday, August 20th at the Dream Cottage.

Although the Back to School period is exciting for many, it is also stressful for some PEI families.  With the increase in prices across PEI this year, making ends meet will be even more difficult.  Although the Public Schools Branch is providing school supplies, parents and guardians still need to provide backpacks, lunch bags and water bottles.

We also want to help ensure that Island youth have access to the types of food that fuel academic success. Food security is an issue on our island – it affects 1 in 5 children on PEI.  The school breakfast and lunch programs provide families with support but there are still gaps. Let’s help fill the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry Food Bank shelves with breakfast, lunch and snack items like cereal, granola bars and juice boxes; please see the full list of needs below.

Our vision is that all young people realize their full potential.  Access to healthy food and adequate nutrition is an important to academic performance. Let’s cram the cottage with as much Back to School food supplies, backpacks, water bottles and lunch bags as possible to ensure that every child starts the year with what they need to succeed!

We’ll be celebrating the generosity of Islanders with some great prizes & treats. Drop by the Dream Cottage with a donation and you’ll receive a BBBSPEI buff and you’ll have a chance to win some great prizes including:

To add to the fun, CFCY & Max 93 will be broadcasting from the Cottage on Thursday (August 17th) from 9 am until 1 pm.  It will also be a great chance to take a tour of the Dream Cottage, find out more about volunteering and get your Dream Cottage tickets in time for the Final Early Bird Draw.
