The Big Little Challenge Wrap Up Newsletter

We couldn’t hold Bowl for Kids Sake safely this year, but we didn’t want to lose the things we love – community spirit, chance to have fun together….and of course fundraising for a great cause!   It’s been a tough year, so we wanted to focus on doing something positive this winter.

For 3 weeks in March, 2 Individual Fundraisers, 27 Work and 9 Family & Friends teams came together to have fun and fundraise.  With the help of our sponsors and other supporters, they raised $53,585!

In addition to fundraising, teams were asked to do 21 themed challenges which promoted Mental Health & Well-Being, Life-Long Learning, and Community Involvement – the 3 Big Outcomes of our mentoring programs.  In total, teams completed 420 challenges!

March 8th – 14th: An Apple a Day – Mental Health and Well-Being Challenges

March 15th – 21st: March Forth – Trying New Things Challenges

March 22nd – 28th: Bigger Together – Making a Difference Challenges

These challenges were designed to be done at any time.  If your work or family is looking for some fun, meaningful & team-oriented activities, check out the Work Challenge and Family & Friends Challenge list and choose some for yourself!

Staycation Draw

We want to thank all of The Big Little Challenge teams for their hard work!  With everyone receiving a ballot for every $100 they raised and twice as many if any money was raised on-line, there were a ton of ballots.  We were so grateful to everyone, but there can be only one winner.

Congrats to the Master Packaging MPI Pandas!!  They have won a prize package that includes a Green Gables Golf Club Prize Package (green fees with power cart & Green Gables Golf Club hats for 4-6 people), a $500 Confederation Court Mall Shopping Spree, and a $250 Canadian Tire Charlottetown Gift Card for all their outdoor summer needs.

Celebrate Summer in the Winter Challenge

Each week, we asked teams to do 7 Challenges, including on Signature Challenge.  Since we couldn’t get together to judge challenges in person, teams posted photos and videos on their socials or sent them to us.

For our first challenge, we asked teams to Celebrate Summer in the Winter and it was so hard to choose winners because the teams were so creative!  There were indoor Olympic games, an indoor “campfire” with songs, s’more making, beach days, golfing (indoor & outdoor), BBQs, tropical days and gardening.  It was a great start to The Challenge!

The Great Chili Challenge

During the second week of The Big Little Challenge, we were focusing on trying new things….and it was still winter on PEI, so what could be better than a Chili Challenge.  Teams once again put their creativity to work!  There were teams trying brand new recipes, others getting chilly outside, chili cook offs at work, a chili fundraiser and a donation to the Upper Room too!
