At Big Brothers Big Sisters of PEI, we believe in the power of mentoring to change lives. With the support of our sponsors, volunteers, and community, our programs continue to make a meaningful difference across the Island.

The Impact of Every $1

For every $1 invested in Big Brothers Big Sisters, society sees a return of $23. This incredible impact shows how mentoring benefits not just the youth, but the entire community.

Positive Outcomes of Mentored Youth

Our mentoring programs deliver life-changing outcomes:

  • 80% pursue healthy lifestyles
  • 81% report stronger financial literacy
  • 87% have developed stronger social networks
  • 47% hold senior leadership positions in their professional lives

Key Achievements in 2024

  • Tech N’ Talk Sessions: We held 3 Tech N’ Talk sessions where Island seniors were mentored to increase their comfort and confidence with digital devices. These sessions allowed seniors to engage more comfortably in the digital world.
  • Community-Based Matches: We supported 52 community-based matches across 11 communities from Souris to O’Leary. These one-to-one relationships between Bigs and Littles foster growth, friendship, and long-term positive influence.
  • In-School Matches: We facilitated 15 In-School matches across 7 communities from Souris to Borden-Carlton, providing students with trusted mentors to help guide them through school life.
  • Book Giveaway: Over 1,400 new books were given away to children and youth in Summerside, New London, and Souris through 3 free book events, inspiring a love for reading and learning.
  • Go Girls! Program: We ran 2 sessions of our Go Girls! Program at Stone Park Intermediate School, focusing on healthy eating, active living, and positive decision-making.
  • Teen Mentoring Program: Our Teen Mentoring program continues to be one of our strongest offerings. Over 250 students participated in this program in 2024, with high school students mentoring elementary school children for one hour a week. This year, we have trained 11 classes in 8 high schools across all three counties, with 16 elementary classes set to be matched with mentors, engaging over 700 students in 2024!

The Power of Local Support

All funds raised stay right here in PEI. Your continued support allows us to offer free mentoring programs to Island youth, empowering them to reach their full potential. Together, we are igniting the power and potential of young people.

Thank you to everyone who makes this possible!
